Youth Apprenticeship
Looking to jumpstart your career while still in high school? The Apprenticeship Maryland Program (AMP) is here for you! If you're 16 or older, AMP offers youth apprenticeships, designed to set you up for sustainable employment and suitable educational opportunities.
What's even cooler? In the program, you can explore fields like manufacturing, STEM, and more, regardless of whether they fit into traditional Career and Technical Education (CTE) paths. Here's what you can expect:
- The apprenticeship kicks off in the summer, fall or spring of your junior or senior year. Your College & Career Readiness professional will help work through your unique schedule needs to ensure you can graduate and earn credentials.
- Dive into at least 450 hours of hands-on training in the workforce.
- Build your professional network that can open doors to exciting opportunities and valuable connections for years to come.
- With support from your school, receive at least one year of instruction directly related to your job.
- Complete the program before high school graduation to go to college free of obligation or commitment to a particular field.
- Earn credits towards graduation with a Youth Apprenticeship.
