Youth Apprenticeship, a.k.a. Apprenticeship Maryland Program
The Apprenticeship Maryland Program (AMP) offers a youth apprenticeship for students aged 16 and older, aimed at providing sustainable employment and further education opportunities in manufacturing, STEM fields, and various CTE Career Clusters.Youth apprenticeships can be offered in any apprenticeable occupation even if it is outside of typical CTE career clusters. The program structure includes:
- Apprentice starts in the summer or fall of their junior or senior year
- Apprentice completes at least 450 hours of work-based training
- In partnership with their school, apprentice receives at least one year of job related instruction

Blueprint For MD's Future
The Blueprint sets a goal for 45% of high school graduates to complete an apprenticeship or earn an industry-recognized credential (IRC) by the 2030-2031 school year. The ambitious goal of the state’s high school students participating in apprenticeships indicates the priority of this initiative and the immense benefits to students and employers.
